Iridium messages use store-and-forward delivery and can wait for clear sky. SOS starts a coordinated response after activation; it cannot guarantee connection, rescue timing, outcome or free rescue.

Does SOS work without a subscription?
Interactive SOS requires the device to be activated on an eligible active plan. Never assume a paused, suspended, expired or untransferred account retains SOS service—verify live status before departure.
Are satellite messages instant?
No. Iridium delivery is store-and-forward, and terrain, trees, buildings, weather and sky view can delay or prevent a transmission. Move to open sky and follow device status.
How long does the battery last?
Garmin claims up to 14 days at 10-minute tracking with full sky or four days under moderate tree cover. Settings, sky, temperature, messages and battery age change those limits.
Is Mini 2 waterproof?
It is IPX7-rated under controlled conditions, not waterproof without limit. Inspect ports and housing, dry it after exposure and follow Garmin's care instructions.
Can a used Mini 2 be gifted?
Only after the previous owner removes and deactivates it as required and the recipient confirms it can be registered and activated. Check serial, account transfer and battery condition before purchase.
