Xtreme 4 makes a strong shared gift for someone who hosts outside, camps by car or wants more bass and volume than a one-hand speaker can deliver. Its long claimed runtime, USB-C power bank, app EQ and replaceable battery add practical life. Skip it at near-successor pricing, for air travel, or for someone who mainly listens quietly at a desk.

- Identity: look for Xtreme 4 and a Canadian-market listing; do not confuse it with Xtreme 3, the smaller Charge line or the newer Xtreme 5.
- Price: compare the final delivered price with Xtreme 5 and Charge 6. Previous-generation status only helps if the saving is real.
- Scale: it measures about 29.7 × 14.9 × 14.1 cm and weighs 2.1 kg. The strap is useful because one-handed table moves are awkward.
- Connections: playback is Bluetooth. USB-C handles power in and out, but there is no 3.5 mm AUX input and USB is not a wired-audio shortcut.

Does the battery really last 24 hours?
JBL rates it for up to 24 hours, with up to six more through Playtime Boost. Real runtime changes with volume, EQ and content; Playtime Boost extends time partly by changing the sound, including reducing bass emphasis.
Is it waterproof?
It carries an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance. That is useful accident protection, not permission to charge it wet, leave port covers open or treat it as a permanent floating pool speaker.
Can the battery be replaced?
Yes, JBL designed the rechargeable pack to be replaceable, but the spare Battery 400 is sold separately and accessing it requires the appropriate tool. It is not a hot-swap door for casual use.
Can it charge a phone?
Yes. The USB-C port supports power output, although charging another device uses some of the speaker's stored energy and therefore reduces remaining playback time.
Can it pair with other JBL speakers?
It can stereo-pair with another Xtreme 4 and use Auracast with compatible speakers. JBL also documents PartyBoost pairing through its app, but mixed-generation group support should be checked for the exact other speaker.
