The verdict
Excellent for daily mixed-floor pickup—not maintenance-free ownership
Choose exact Canadian IP3251C for a pet household that values strong forward-and-reverse cleaning and wants the dock to remove debris after routine runs. The base is bagless and convenient, but it does not wash filters, untangle every roller or clean sensors. The system is also relatively heavy and its emptying purge is loud.
Why it works
- ✓ DuoClean pickup works across hard floors and carpet without swapping heads
- ✓ Dirt, edge, floor and direction detection adjust behaviour during cleaning
- ✓ The 2 L dock reduces how often the 0.68 L onboard cup needs manual emptying
Tradeoffs
- × The roughly 3.72 kg assembled vacuum can feel heavy during longer sessions
- × The dock's automatic purge is abrupt and loud, though it can be disabled
- × Bagless dock disposal still exposes the owner to loose dust during emptying
Check runtime, floors and dock location
- Model: Canadian IP3251C Clean & Empty system—not IP1251C, IA3241C or a U.S./U.K. bundle.
- Runtime: up to 70 minutes is a hand-vacuum Eco claim without a powered floorhead; Auto and Boost finish much sooner.
- Charging: one depleted battery can take around six hours, so this is not continuous whole-home power.
- Debris: vacuum dry household debris only and follow the floorhead guidance for delicate floors, rugs and loose edges.
- Dock: choose an outlet with upright clearance and decide whether automatic emptying noise suits the household schedule.

Quick answers
Does the dock clean the vacuum for you?
No. It removes dry debris from the onboard cup and charges the battery. The owner still cleans filters, rollers, air paths, sensors, cup and dock.
How long does it run in real cleaning?
Shark's maximum 70-minute figure excludes the powered head and uses Eco hand-vac mode. Floor type, detected dirt, attachments and Boost can reduce runtime substantially.
How should the filters be maintained?
Follow the owner's guide for rinsing intervals, use water only where directed and let washable filters air-dry completely for at least 24 hours before reinstalling.
Is the dock fragrance required?
No. Odour-neutralizer fragrance is optional. Avoid it when household members are fragrance-sensitive, and verify whether a cartridge is included.
Is its filtration allergy-proof?
Shark makes HEPA and sealed-system claims under specified testing, but no vacuum removes every exposure. Maintenance and careful bagless disposal still matter.
