Does every game run at 4K or 120 fps on a TV?
No. The dock can output up to 4K/60 or 1440p and 1080p up to 120 Hz, but game rendering varies and docked output does not support VRR.
How long does the battery last?
Nintendo claims roughly 2–6.5 hours. Tom's Hardware measured 2h16 in Fortnite and 2h56 in Breath of the Wild at 50% brightness; charging asleep took about 2h20 versus Nintendo's three-hour claim.
Do original Joy-Con controllers work?
Wireless compatibility varies by game, but original Joy-Con cannot attach to or charge from Switch 2. The included Joy-Con 2 are rated around 20 hours.
Is GameChat free?
After March 31, 2026 it requires Nintendo Switch Online, plus a Nintendo Account, internet and SMS registration. Video needs a separate compatible camera, and parents approve supervised accounts.
