Choose the Mini 12 when it is meaningfully cheaper than the newer Mini 13 or the recipient strongly prefers its colour. The Mini 13 adds a self-timer, so equal pricing favours the newer model. Either way, put at least one Instax Mini film pack in the gift or the camera cannot take a single photo.
